Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Is it always advised to obtain a real estate attorney when purchasing a 'short sale' home? Would a lawyer need to be obtained prior to making an offer or shortly after? What would be the possible put falls of just proceeding with only our buying agent and not hiring an attorney?

For the amount of money that it would cost you, it is absolutely the best advice.

Do not get involved in a real estate purchase without having a lawyer review the transaction.

You need an attorney to represent your interest. the Lender's attorney is not going to represent your interest.

You need to make sure the Lender is willing to accept the short sale and you need to make sure you are adequately protected.
