Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Hi, There is a lien on my home for unpd taxes. I received a citation from the city recorder to answer complaint by 6/6. W/this limited info could you advise me of process? Basically, left well paying job in '06 for nursing school. Had good financial plan. Some fell through ie: having RE taxes diverted x2 yrs while in school. '08 & '09 became liens, Making payments when possible. Im now RN making good $ but debt incurred is big. Would like to hold on to home if possible. Daughter is house shopping-don't know if that's relevant. + side: inc $55-60k/yr; possible home buyer or access to $ to borrow for taxes [daughter], MTG pretty good standing. On - side: RE tax arrears x3 yrs. Would I be able to pay arrears NOT lien [just let the lien stay until I can pay or I sell]; or try to negotiate lien [-fees/int or does negotiating become a non-option @this point? Thanks for any advise/direction~ Linda

You need to speak to the other side and see what you can negotiate. Usually they are open to some payment plan.
