If the property is owned as joint tenants by them, then you do not have any protection if your wife predeceases both you and her mother,

If title is held as tenants in common, then your wife's interest absent a Will leaving her interest in the home to someone else, would go to you (and her children if applicable).

If you divorce and even if the property is the marital home, you may have very limited rights to the property.

You should get a copy of the deed to the property and go see a local attorney for advice as to what rights you have or could have based on same.
