Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

My father just passed away. He told me I was the executor of his estate. My sister took care of him prior to his demise due to my physical problems. The will is no where to be found and is not filled in probate court, we do not know who the lawyer was and my sister is giving away items from his home. What are my rights and how should I proceed?

Please accept my condolences.

If probate had not yet been commenced in the probate and family court, you should do so immediately. Gather up whatever paperwork you have and make an appointment with an attorney.
