Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

My husband passed away 2 years ago at age 57. I was married for 35 years and have 3 sons from our marriage. My mother inlaw passed away 1 year later. She had 3 children my husband being one. Are my 3 sons in titled to part of her estate?

Her Will if she has one would direct how her estate would be handled. If she did not have a Will, then your children would be entitled to part of her estate.

If she died more than a year ago, there could be a problem. Contact an attorney ASAP to assist you.

I agree with attorney Roth that you need to reach out to an attorney immediately. There may be a will directing some part of your mother-in-law's estate to your children, and if there is no will, then your children are most likely entitled to some portion of the estate by way of intestacy. Reach out to an attorney without delay.
