If I am left nothing in a will, why am I being asked to sign papers regarding surety?

My best guess is that in all likelihood you are one of the next-of-kin of the decedent. In that case, if the will does not waive sureties on the bond, then a surety bond will need to be purchased, which costs the estate money. This is avoided if all of the next-of-kin assent to the petition for probate. You are not obligated to do so.

However, since you don't have all the facts, you should ask the attorney who is making the request and find out the reason..
