Legal Question in Family Law in Mexico

Marrige in Mexico

Hi,

My husband and I married in Mexico. Neither of of us are Mexican, we are both American citizens. We were married my a judge and have a the signed documents. (Acta de Matrimonio) I have always wondered if we are legally married in the US. Will this come back to haunt either of us in the future eg-Social Security, death, retirement...Should we just run over to Vegas to have a quick ceremony-after 2 kids it seems funny...

Re: Marrige in Mexico

Mexican marriages are accepted in the US as far as the courts are concerned. Call Social Security and ask them.

No problem. Your marriage is valid all over the world. For get a full validation of your 'acta de matrimonio' only must get a registration in US. You must get a certified copy and later you can request for a registration at local civil register office. Is all.

Any doubt or another question, let me know it please.
