Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

We live in Michigan on 10 acres and our house is at the back of our property along with our 2 horses and barn. We've lived here for almost 14 years now and moved here specifically because it was so quiet. A new neighbor moved in three years ago (state cop from Detroit) and is now shooting his rifle in the evening between 7:30 and 9:30 at night for about 30 minutes at a time. His house is in the front of his 10 acres and he shoots towards the back (by my house) My horses run around frantically and my dog is terrified, not to mention the annoying loud noise this creates for us. Is there anything I can do? I've talked with him and he basically told me, "too bad, there's nothing I can do about it".

There should be a city ordinance that governs the discharge of firearms. There are other nuisance type remedies that may be available to you. I need more facts feel free to contact my office.
