Legal Question in Construction Law in Michigan

Employee paid as subcontractor

I am an employee that is paid on a 1099 as a ''subcontractor'' for no other reason than to avoid paying me as an employee. I don't get overtime-and pay all my own taxes. Is this legal-who should I call/talk to.

Re: Employee paid as subcontractor

When employeers fail to pay employees as required, employees can file a complaint with the Department of Labor. www.dol.gov will have additional information. If you have more questions, I can be reached at 586-979-7302
