Re: can a bill collector garnish wages for medical bills

First, bill collectors are violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by threatening to garnish wages because they have no standing to do so unless they are attorneys licensed in the State of Michigan. You may be entitled to money damages for this violation.

However, if your wife owes the bills, gets sued, and the creditor gets a judgment, most likely here wages can be garnished unless she has a very low paying job.
