Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

My husband and I purchased a mobile home with the promise of repayment by our son. He has not repaid the purchase price that was agreeded on. My husband put my sons name on the title with his and now the title is missing. My husband died and had a will leaving everything to me with the instructions that if our son paid for the mobile it was his. I have been talking with my son and he tells me he is still living in the mobile. Three weeks ago I went to visit my son and his wife--this is a 4hour drive frome my home. When I knocked on the door I was greeted by a woman I don't know and I told her I was looking for my son. She said she bought the mobile almost 1 year ago. Now what do I do to get the money for the mobile????? This was my retirement savings that was used to purchase the mobile.

You would need to file a lawsuit against your son for breach of contract. If you don't have any evidence of the agreement in writing, it will be your word against his, but a court/judge would likely believe you, especially if you can demonstrate there's no way he had the money to pay for it, and/or you have canceled checks to show the money came from you. You can obtain a title and/or property transfer documents from the county's register of deeds' office.
