Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

i am being sued for a car i volunteerly turned in, i broke my ankle and was out of work for 4 months, i could not afford to keep the car. the car was sold and i was offered a settlement for 7 thousand dollars but i did not have that much money the car was sold. know they want 12 thousand plus cost, interest and attorney fees. i only made 12 thousand last year. my husband bought the car and his name comes first only he has not been served, just wondering what my options are thankyou
