Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

being sued

My daughter is being sued and has virtually no idea why. She has tried to reach the plaintiffs attorney to try and find out why and no one has attempted to call her back. A summons was left on our front door to contact the court. What legal rights does she have, is a lawyer needed, we have no clue as to what we should do.
