Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

My wife has a joint checking account with her elderly father, in order to be able to pay certain bills for him. Her father has now suffered a severe stroke and may never be able to care for himself again, if he survives this latest medical condition. Her father has acculminated quite a bit of debt prior to his stroke, so the question that I have is, can my wife be held responsible for any of the debt of her father's due to the joint checking account?

Probably not. But she should not keep her money in there. Also review the paperwork for his medical care your wife should not be signing as a responsible party or those liens will never go away until satisfied. Please call us for a free consultation to be sure 877 887 9562
