Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Hello, I am 18 from Michigan. Last week After I had gotten off work I went to my old high school to smoke weed. Before I smoked a police officer came up to my car and told me that it smelled like marijuana and asked me where it was. I told him where my bowl was and he handcuffed me and put me in the back of my car and searched my whole car only to find the bowl I told him about with a little bit of weed in it. I did not have enough weed on me for him to charge me so he gave me a ticket for possession of drug paraphernalia (it is a misdemeanor) . This is my first offense. I have a court date and do not want to tell my parents I was wondering what you think will happen in court and how much the fines will be and if I will be put on probation. Thank you.

It sounds like you are facing the rest of your life with a drug related conviction on your criminal records. It also sounds like you should find a way to afford an attorney to try to protect you. The rest of your life is a long time. You can read more at:

I agree with the others. You do not want this n your permanent record. Get an attorney, use the public defender, or something.
