Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Was in a bar argument, never put hands on anyone. Bouncer came running at me and as I was getting into my car, my friend that was there slammed him to stop him. I waited in the car for the cops to come. I told them what happened, they told me I was free to go. Then they stopped me as my girlfriend and I were leaving to take me in for public intoxication/drunk and disorderly. It says online I could get up to 90 days in jail. I have never been in trouble with the law. I have anything on my record....I have always been a law abiding citizen. But one night got too out of hand. What should I do?
