Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Crimenal warrent for my arrest in other state

On July I was helping my mom sell

my father's things after his passing.

2 kids came onto her property

with off rd vehicles. I told them

to get off the property or I would

report them to the cops for

trespassing. I had a run in with 2 of

the dads of these kids. The

encounter with the dads was in my

mom's barn. They threaten me and

mom. We had to write a statement

for the cops and I saw my moms

lawyer. I wanted to be sure there

was no problem with my leaving the

state. After returning to Texas, I

found out in January that there was

a warrant for me in MI. for assault

with intent to kill. This is a trumped

up charge by these 2 dads. Their

pride was bruised because a woman

stood up to them and the one guy

brought his nine year old to watch. I

now have to take my mom back

home and I've paid a lawyer to try

and post bond were I live in Texas

but I can't get any one in MI to give

me info or let me post bond I have

no way of stopping the MI state

police from arresting me. And I

haven't even done any thing wrong I

don't understand how the D.A. could

take such a frivolous case. I have

many medical problems that require

taking medications. I don't deserve

to go to jail.

Assault with intent to murder is a very serious charge. You should retain an attorney. He may be able to arrange an agreeable time for you to be booked and arraigned (as opposed to being arrested in Texas and being driven to Michigan in a police transport).

You need to get a criminal defense lawyer who practices in Michigan. You also need to get bail from the charging court you should not have any problems with being arrested in Texas.

Because each state must honor the laws of the other states, a Texas court cannot issue bail for a defendant in a Michigan case.
