Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

I made a check out to my landlord for the rent. 3 days later the furnace went out. we went 3 weeks with no heat in the winter time. i have 4 kids and my husband just had surgery. i stopped the rent check. i even called the landlord everyday. no answer his phone was disconnected. i had to hire a furnace repair man myself. we did talk to him as month later we told him we would pay the rent but we wanted to be reembursed for the cost of the furnace he refused. also 2 days after that our house got condemed. we had to move. he is now going after me for the rent. there is a warrent out for me. because i moved and he does not know where i live. will the police come to my new address and how long do you think i have?

Your matter is not criminal and there should not be any "warrant." There may be a summons and complaint being served, but that is CIVIL. You have wonderful defenses to this case, I just hope you have the proofs of your claims. No heat is a great argument for non-payment of rent. Good luck! Tim Klisz kliszlaw.com
