Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

I have a pending misdemeanor indecent exposure charge; I was caught with my boyfriend at the time who was performing oral sex on me (I am female) in a car. It was late at night, the windows were fogged up, so we were not technically seen by anyone. I have no other offenses or criminal history and am otherwise an upstanding citizen involved in community work. The police officer told me to plead not guilty and that she would make sure nothing appeared on my record. a) Should I believe the officer, b) should I get a lawyer, and c) what are the odds that I would see any jail time or serious consequences?

One, never trust the police, period. Second, yes, you can likely avoid a criminal record with the right attorney. Jail time is highly unlikely for a first offender. Contact me at kliszlaw.com to discuss this matter in detail. Thanks, Tim Klisz

Do plead not guilty, and do hire a lawyer. You do not want this on your record. It can adversely affect your future in many ways.
