Legal Question in DUI Law in Michigan

Is ''Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (i.e. pot)'' a Valid Charge?

My 18 yr. old blew a 0.0 on a breathalizer test, then was harrassed by police until they received a coereced admission by him of having a hit of Marijuana that evening. He was charged with ''Driving Under The Influence Of Drugs'', and jailed. If this is a valid charge in the state of MI, exactly where would I look to find it?

Yes, it is illegal to operate a vehicle while you are under the influence of marijuana. The statute is MCL 257.625. It makes it illegal to drive under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance or a combination of alcohol and a controlled substance. Please call my office if your son wishes to retain us. Good Luck. John C. Talpos (http://www.Mich-Lawyer.com)
