Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Child Support

A friend found out that his 7 year old daughter is not his. Apparently his wife had an extramarital affair. Got pregnant and led her husband to believe it was his. Until blood work was done for a non related issue and showed he could not have fathered the child. The attorney he talked to said he is responsible for child support for a child that is not his. Reason being that he put on the birth cert. that he was the biological father. Obviously he thought he was. Is he responsible for supporting this child?

Re: Child Support

Greetings; This is a complicated issue. He may indeed be required to pay support on this child. Or in some cases, he might not. The discussion of all the aspects of this issue are far beyond this posting. I suggest you have him contact my office to fully discuss. 616-457-5100; www.trichler.com Thank you, atty. Trichler
