Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

recovering wrongly garnished wages

My husband has been paying child support by means of his wages being garnished. We just found out that according to Colorado law where the support order was issued it should have stopped at the age of 19. Instead the state of Michigan continued to garnish his wages for 2 more years, until she was 21. Do we have any way of recovering that money from the state or are they not held responsible for taking too much child support?

Re: recovering wrongly garnished wages

The money would have to come from the mother. State did not get the money. They only turned it over to the mother. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
