Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Requesting Child support reduction

I am currently in arreage of 5,000 and I am going to court to request a 50% decrease in child support for one month only due to financial hardship, Is it likely it would be granted in my favor? What is your opinion based on your expertise in law? and also.........Does it even matter that I am in arreage??

Re: Requesting Child support reduction

Greetings; Unfortunately your financial hardship argument will be ignored. It is not a valid argument. However, you can have an attorney check the FOC calculations of your support. Often times they have calculated it incorrectly. In that case, you are and have been paying too much. And lastly, the fact that you are in arrears will make no difference in your support argument.
