Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

time line

According to the divorce settlement my husband's ex wife got to keep the house they lived in but she has 3 years to refinance the house if that is not done my husband gets ownership of the house. They went to court for the divorce on June 7, 2000 but the papers were not signed by the judge until Dec. 1, 2000. My question is does she have until June 7, 2003 or Dec. 1, 2003 to refinance?

Re: time line

It depends upon the language of the divorce. Since the judgment was not effective until the later date, technically the divorce was not final until then.

The language of the judgment should have been made very clear,--if it's not, then you'll have to go back to the judge for clarification.
