Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

I leased an apartment for a few years but later during the lease I wqs layed off and income and jobs got worse. During that time my daughter lost her apartment and was delivering her second child and I let her stay with me. The problem is we found out a warrent for her arrest for back rent due. Is she accountable for payment even though her signature was not on the lease.

Go to whoever issued the warrant and ask for a copy of the judge's order that references the lease that is claimed to be her responsibility. See if her signature is on the lease. She must have been sued, and ignored the summons. She must have had a judgment issued against her but ignored court documents. It is not likely that this warrant for her arrest just came out of thin air, without some other form of civil court action by the landlord, preceeding the warrant. If she was not properly served, (because the process server could not find her) then you need an attorney to file a motion for rehearing, due to lack of service of process.
