Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Michigan

Emotionally abusive parents

I'm 15 years old and my parents are physically and emotionally abusive. The problem is, I don't actually have any physical marks when they go off, they do things like yank my hair and slam me against walls, & if there are marks they usually go away in a short time. I want to get away from them, but I don't know how to go about filing with CPS or if I'd even be able to do that or what. Can you tell me how to get away from my parents?

Re: Emotionally abusive parents

Call child protective services and ask them to start an investigation. Their number is 517 . 887 . 9450; and their website is: http://www.ingham.org/co/fiaindex.htm

(Ingham County)

You can also call the police and make a report at any time! Even if it is past the time of the event. Call them now! Get yourself out of that abusive situation. You may be placed with a relative while the investigation is ongoing. If the complaint is substantiated (if they discover that you are telling the truth), your parents will be required to go through counseling and possibly more.

If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
