Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

I've worked for Applebees for 7.5 years as a server. Within the first year of working as a server my schedule started to change and I was being put on Expo and Carside ToGo shifts which I had no idea I was going to be scheduled in when first hired in. I became a server trainer that year also and used that as leverage to have them stop scheduling me for Expo. They finally stopped because they realized it was pretty unfair to have me be a trainer for no monetary or status gain. For many years it's been a great place to work and now all of a sudden they are scheduling me for the Carside Togo position. I was never hired in for that position so how can my managers legally schedule me for something I wasn't hired in to do?

They can...unless their decision is biased because of your age, race, sex, weight, etc.
