Is a contract signed by a 17 years old legal and binding?

Generally, a contract signed by a minor is not enforceable. There are exceptions. If the contract is for necessities such as shelter, the contract can be enforced. If you posted the previous question about a lease, I think the landlord would have a hard time enforcing the lease contract as it pertains to you if you had other living arrangements available, such as your parents' house.

It can be, for example, 17-year olds can open bank accounts, buy cars and sign agreements on student loans. The court will look at the facts and circumstances of the case. Even if the 17-year old is not held directly responsible, his/her parents can be.
