Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

Not sure which owner is responsible

I recently injured (bitten by a bat that made its' way into my apartment through cracks in the building near a window) and incurred a rather large ER bill. My landlord told me to keep him informed on how much the medical bills were, I assumed so he could avoid any legal troubles. Since this has happened my landlord has sold the building and I'm wondering if I have any recourse in helping me pay my expenses. If so, is the original landlord still held responsible or does liability change hands with the sale of the building? Thank you for your help...

Re: Not sure which owner is responsible

The liability does not attach to the property, but to the owner. You should continue to pursue the landlord who owned the property at the time of the injury.
