Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

Rental Property -notice to tenant to sell

If I have a tenant w/ a Month to Month rental agreement, and I decide to put the house up for sale, do I need to give her a 30 day notice? Or is this only for leases? Thanks

Re: Rental Property -notice to tenant to sell

A month to month lease is exactly that--a lease of 30 days that continues to renew if not cancelled. So, just as in any other situation you must provide a 30 day notice to that tenant.

Depending on how the tenant agrees and/or any agreement between you two they of course may remain in the home subject to the sale and when you have an offer you provide a 30 day notice. The only downside here the scheduling of showings and the homes condition as kept by the tenant and how it may prevent/delay showings.
