Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Michigan

Attorney doesn't return my money

I entered into a contract with an attorney for my green card process.I paid him.He took 5 mons just to fill the form for the first stage and suddenly he said he is withdrawing from my case. He also sent me a mail stating that he will send my fees in full. 1 month has passed and till he has not sent me. He doesn't respond to my emails, phone or fax. How should I proceed now?. We both live in different states. If I sue him, Can I claim the attorney fees (whom I may hire to sue the attorney), Loss of pay (If I suppose to travel to other place for the case matter, I have to leave off on those days), Transport expenses, for mention tension and the money he owes me''
