Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in Michigan

Blackmailed by Attorney

An Attorney blackmailed me into agreeing to settlement hearing--it was ugly. In court I said it was under protest, said yes under undue influence, and refused to sign for it. I sent letter to attorney demanding my trial.

1. Do I have any rights and can I contact the Judge to tell him?

2. Who do I see or how do I handle this breech of ethics?

3. Can they actually force a settlement on me against my will?

4. They proceded and I am still refusing. How do I fix this injustice?

5. Is there any repair?

Thank You, C

Re: Blackmailed by Attorney

If you agreed to a settlement on the record you are stuck with it unless you can establish through medical testimony or psychiatric testimony that you did not have the requisite mental capacity to enter into such an agreement. Why don't you email me the facts of your case and the amount of the settlement and I'll give you my opinion. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
