Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan

I was involved in an auto accident on Dec. 18 2010, the other driver was at fault as he ran a red light and collided into my vehicle which contained myself and my daughter. I was rushed to the hospital for my injuries to my head and my ribs. Unfortunately i did not have any auto insurance. Can i sue the negligent insured driver for damages to my vehicle and injuries to myself although i did not have any auto insurance at the time?????
