Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Lying on Disclosure

I recently purchased a home through a real estate agency. On the disclosure, the sellers did not list there had been roof leaks and repairs. Since the sale of the home the former owners moved to Germany. I have contacted the original roofing company that installed the roof on this home and now have in writing from this company they have repaired roof leaks on two occasions. I was also informed by the roofing company the former owners asked them to fix the roof just so it did not show leaks before putting the home on the market. I have now had to have the roof replaced at my expense. What recourse do I have since the sellers live out of the country?

Re: Lying on Disclosure

The fact that they have left the country does not affect their liability. It will make it harder to sue them, and even harder yet, to collect any judgment you get. You should consult a lawyer who specializes in real estate litigation to get more definitive advice.
