Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

I purchased a home that I recentlyfound out a water damage insurance claim was paid just before I bought. I am experiencing several issues involving roof leaking & water seeping into house. Do I have any recourse?

It depends if you bought the house from a bank or from an individual, whether you had an inspection performed, whether the inspector missed anything, whether you could prove that the seller intentionally covered up damage or hid something from you, etc. Banks have less liability when it comes to disclosing the condition of a house, i.e., they are not required to fill out a seller's disclosure statement like a regular person is. Banks are often not familiar with the history or condition of a house, but could have known about an insurance claim and payout. You need to retain a lawyer to look at all of your closing documents, the people involved, the inspection materials, etc., and then properly advise you on your rights and remedies, if any, and how best to proceed.
