Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Hi! This is a realest question. My wife, and I have two houses, this is most trouble than its worth, believe me. Can I myself put my name as primary residence on one, and can my wife put her name on the other as her primary residence? If this is possible, than we can keep our property taxes both low on each, because as you are well aware they are very hard to sell today. As you know the house that is not of primary residence, the property taxes will be much higher. Thanks Much, and I very much appreciate your time! Sincerely- Don

You could do this but if you're caught it is fraud and you could be subject to criminal and civil penalties plus back taxes.
