Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

reinstating a michigan drivers license

My Drivers license was suspended in Michigan, the suspension period is over but I was unable because of the cost to reinstate it. I have moved to Florida to live with my Dad. I just found out that I can not reistate the license in Florida, how do I go about fixing this, I need a drivers license.

Re: reinstating a michigan drivers license

You do not mention why yourlicense was suspended. If it was suspended as opposed to revoked, all you need to do is to go to a Michigan Secretary of State office and ask for a clearance. There is a charge of between $100.00 and $150.00 for this. It is a completely different matter if your license was revoked. In theory you do not need an attorney to seek reinstatement. However I do NOT recommend that. There are regulations that set forth the proof that you must present to the Drivers License Appeal Division (DLAD). The DLAD will send you a copy of those regulations if you ask for them, or you can get them from the internet. The DLAD is very strict and technical in its review. It is hard for a person to get a reinstatement after a revocation without the assistance of an attorney. John C. Talpos (http://www.Mich-Lawyer.com)
