Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

Is a child responsible for the medical bills of a deceased indigent parent?

I am an only child of a mother who subsits entirely on Social Security. She is currently quite ill and requiring a number of tests while being evaluated for organ transplant. Her Medicaid application is in process, Medicare won't be active for another 3 months; she has no other insurance. If she dies prior to receiving Medicaid or Medicare, will I be responsible for the costs incurred to date?
