Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

My mother recently passed and the lawyer she had write the will has just told us everything mom owns has to be sold.We know thats not what she had in her will and he cannot find his copy,or not all of it he says.Can we start taking moms things out of her house,knick knacks,wall decor,ect,or will we be in trouble?

I agree with attorney Klisz's analysis. Someone (who it is depends on what the Will says) needs to be appointed as personal representative, and that person will have authority to deal with the property and administer the estate.
