Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Child Custody & Mediation

I received a notice of custody change from my ex requesting to revise (from 2005) custody with our 9 year old. We currently share joint legal custody, with me having full physical custody. Now my ex is requesting joint physical custody along with legal. From what I can find online, my ex does not have a right to request this change unless there are signs of endangerment or changes in the child's environment that are not viewed as beneficial. Is this correct? What would you suggest my next step is? My ex is requesting mediation and threatening to take me to court.

Re: Child Custody & Mediation

Depending on what your previous court order states, you are correct that there are certain criteria that your ex has to meet before your ex can request a change of custody. We offer a free initial consultation. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this matter further.
