Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Minnesota

harrassment

Someone has been calling my home phone, office phone, cell phone, my wife's cell phone, my mother-in-law's phone, my wife's ex-husband's phone, my parent's phone and saying that it is important that they speak with me and it is in my best interest to call them back but does not say what it is regarding and I do not know the person or the company they are calling for. It is starting to freak me out. If it was a creditor, I had all my credit cards and accounts before I even met my wife so they would not have my wife's, my in-laws, and especially my wife's ex-husband's phone numbers. I'm afraid to call the person back because they must be stalking me or something to find all these other people who know me or trying to steal my identety or something. Is this legal? What can I do to stop it? Can I file a restraining order? Should I call the Police about it?

Please help

Re: harrassment

Harrassing phone calls are a crime in the State of Minnesota. What you describe fits the definition as far as I know. You should call your local police department. They should send an officer out to speak with you. At least that gets it on record somewhere.

In addition, sign yourself and your family up at www.donotcall.gov. That's a national do not call list that should shut down marketing calls for five years.
