Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

My name is James Zumbrunnen. My ex girlfriend is in jail on a violation of a restraining order, again. There is no bail set at this time. What does it mean for having no bail set? Could the judge at a later time decide to set bail or leave it at no bail so she stays locked up?

Normally bail is set at a bail hearing (pretrial release hearing) in a courtroom, within a day or two of being booked into jail on a new charge. In the case of an alleged violation of probation, the person is more likely to be held longer without bail or other conditional release. It may be best to discuss specifics on the phone with a criminal lawyer, since the answer may depend upon the situation.
