If you are facing this issue, I urge you to confer privately with an attorney at this time. Your own attorney may accompany you to court and represent you. Generally, 'pleading the 5th' is appropriate in certain limited situations and circumstances. If the person's testimony could be used to help prosecute that person, generally yes. But the government could counter with an offer of immunity. These situations can be complicated. The person will need legal representation to be successful.
