Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

I recently had a home fire and all of my clothing was burned. The insurance company gave me acv and told me to buy all the items that were burned and submit the receipts and they would reimburse me the rest of the full amount it cost to replace the items. I am wondering if I can legally return all the items to the stores I purchased them from.

It is not at all uncommon for workers, people!, to provide entirely erroneous 'advice' & 'direction' to others.
