Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

My daughters "father" has not been in contact with me or my daughter for a little over a year, and has had few interactions with her since her birth. She is going to be 3 in march and I was wondering about the child abandonment laws in minnesota. How do I go about filing or calling or whatever I need to do in this situation. I would like to remove him completely from her life considering hes basically already gone. Any help would be awesome!

Child abandonment by a parent is detailed in Minnesota statute. I urge you to have attorney assistance at this time. The state has the concern that children be financially supported by their parents (or that a stepparent be ready to adopt the child), particularly when any sort of state welfare support monies is going to the child.
