Divorce Advantage

My husband and I are contemplating divorce. He is verbally, mentally and physically abusive to me. I do now want a divorce, but it seems as though what is best. We have a 10 month old daughter that I would like to seek sole custody of. Is it to my advantage if I file for the divorce?

The advantage of filing first, is that you will be able to get things started and keep your divorce moving forward.
