Generally, you will need their birth certificates (copy of original and translated if original not in English) and for them to sign the necessary forms when the time comes. I suggest you consult with an attorney, at least to review or help you prepare the documents because there are some intricacies about the process that you will need to be aware of and that a lawyer can better explain to you (for example, visa availability, consular processing, etc.). You can feel free to contact me to discuss in private. We offer flat fees for document review and preparation. Good luck!

If you don't think you can do it all on your own based on what you already know, you should pay an attorney to at least explain the process to you. Then when you have more questions or problems you can talk to them again or pay them to deal with the problems. This is a complicated process and one mistake can cause the complete loss of your investment of time and money. So be careful. Read the form and instructions to get an answer to your question and the questions you don't yet know to ask.

We offer consulting and flat fee assistance, if you're interested. If you do use an attorney, make sure they are real US attorneys.
