Legal Question in Employment Law in Minnesota

I signed a non compete agreement on 6/15/09. I was fired on 5/28/10. It was for a one year but I can't find work making a living doing anything else. My question is : Since they fired me is that agreement still good? If I am able to find work in the same field I am going to accept the position and shut the former company down.

ALthough they are disfavored and will be strictly construed, in MN Non-competes may be enforced if they are reasonable regarding geog. area and time. They also have strict requirements re: execution and enforcement.

I have litigated numerous non-competes on both sides and would be willing to review your contract re: validity.
