Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

My grandmas parents obtained a 99 yr lease on the St.Croix River in beautiful Taylors Falls, MN, after obtaining this lease they built two small cabins on it and had a boat dock put in bought several canoes to rent out and called this place Merrils Landing, it turned out to be a very popular place there for many years, around 1985 after my grandmas mother had passed away her fathers health took a turn for the worse, knowing he would be passing soon he asked both his daughters my grandma being one of them if they or any of there adult children had an interest in keeping this place running, well to be honest at the time nobody did, they all at the time had small children and Taylors Falls is about an hours drive from the Twin Cities,so my great grandpa let his long time friend run the place, inwhich he did for a little while,my great grandpa then passed away and now the place is completely run down and you can hardly even see it when passing by through all of the weeds, my family would like this land back seeing as there is about 30 + yrs left on the lease (which was never transfered out of my grandpas name)..what can we do this man in completely uncooperative but at the same time doesn\'t even seem to want to take care of this lnad...please help!

My friend Roger Kuehn may be able to help you. He is an attorney and realtor who lives on the St. Croix and is familiar with these sort of issues. Give him a call.
