Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

My husband and I bought a house and when we refi'd it they put me on the mortgage but they explained it to me as I was not secure in the loan. We are now doing a deed in lieu/short sale whichever comes first. What does this mean as far as the balance on the loan after the sale or deed. Am I just as responsible for the balance as my husband?

As a cosignor on the morthgage, and without seeing the specific documents, it is very likely that you would be equally liable.
